I agree. I have spent my adult life attending the Baptist church because that is what my parents did. Recently we began attending a non denominational church (mostly Presbyterian back ground) and realized that I was never really a "Baptist" but a Christian and that I didn't really enjoy the narrow minded ideas in the Baptist church. That took 60 years. Keep thinking.

I agree with your thinking. Life is a choice and the direction your life takes will be directed by your choices. Events along the way can alter the path but not make it impossible to keep making good choices. Very deep but very thought provoking. Not surprised because your thoughts have always run deep. Keep thinking.

Connie, I feel absolutely horrible that I have not responded until now. I'm the victim of way too many emails and this one was lost in the shuffle.

Can you send me a picture of the tree that you're referring to? I have done some similar work in the past but in my short-sighted sense I didn't get pictures to show. Also, given the 6 weeks that have past I may have missed your daughter's birthday but I want to make the attempt to check in.

Hope you are well and I look forward to your response.

Hi! Woodcarver Lanny Mitchell carved a face in our tree for our daughter's birthday. The tree has come down but we have the face - would you be interested in looking at it and possibly quoting helping preserve it and making it something we can keep in our home? johnsons4ut@bellsouth.net

I had to home-school my,now, 16 1/2 year old
son because of a terrible bowel leakage problem
he developed at the age of 3.
Even though I am a reading and comprehension
specialist , I have found my child nothing short
of impossible to teach. I have tried in private
and group settings with less than desireable
results. The doctors at Vandetbilt Children's Hospital have commended me for NOT sending him to school and sparing him a life sentence
of ridicule and humiliation ( that the majority
of their patients experience ; and all the psychiatric counceling that coincides with the
the children and teenagers struggle to balance
acedemics with bullying , ridicule , low to no
self-esteem and of course the medical condition
itself:that many sufferers Never out-grow ).
I am so grateful to the Lord, my son is one of the very lucky ones and was healed of this when he was about 12 years old.

As I stated earlier , I am under great blame
and ridicule for not placing him in school when
he started Jr.High school even from my own
husband, older ( grown ) children , their wives and friends. I know in my heart, my son would
not thrive in that environment yet ; but would
struggle with his handwriting ( a Major hot button here as he is so defiant in this subject
that I held him back 1 entire school year.
"3rd." grade ). My heart breaks for him because
of everything I've written and the fact He is self-
conscious of his deficit that he literally hits himself on the head I'm frustration and verbally
berates himself. I feel like a tremendous
failure as a mother and teacher.

If Anyone can relate to our problem...
PLEASE feel free to contact me ;either
here or on my e-mail site.

Sharon, thank you so much for letting me know - I'm not sure what's up just yet but I'll email you once we're back online. I think the template I'm using is having a problem. If you're looking for pictures from the Raleigh show and other woodcarving pics, try www.raleighcarving.com

I created this site for it to be the home page for the galleries of images from carvers in Raleigh and woodworkers from all over. Check that one out - it looks OK from my Internet Explorer version (and I know Firefox, Opera, Chrome and Safari all work).
